BIO
Carlyn ("CAR-lin") holds a Bachelor's in Theater from Vassar College and is a recent graduate
from The University of Southern California, MFA in Dramatic Writing program. She writes comedic dramas about societal barriers to love: the structures that prevent us from taking care of one another. Her works often include magical expressions of the real world, women and children, and colloquial language mixed with the poetic.
Her graduate thesis work, “Wonderland Is Real” won the Bellman’s Prize in USC Libraries’ 2021 Wonderland Competition, and her play “Net of Worth” was a 2022 Finalist in the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition.
She currently lives in Tulsa, OK where she writes with Heller Theater Company. She also recently co-founded WRISE Collective, an online writer's group featuring up-and-coming stage and screenwriters.

In addition to theater, she has worked as a writer for Spektral Ink Films' documentary Revelations in Tear Gas and illustrated a children's book called Our Lady Gaia with poet Lawrence F Hawk. She is the founder of an arts-infusion reading and writing program for kids called
ARTademics (www.artademics.com), and a dharma leader at Tam Bao English Language Sangha.
